Chasing Abbey Dallas Concert reviews
Journey was good, but Foreigner stole the show
A good show as always, but predictable as usual on this sort of tour. It's always better to see them in a smaller venue with fewer opening acts, such as Night Ranger opened the show, and sorry I missed them. Camden is bad enough, but the traffic getting to the venue is horrible. Caught the last song of Night Ranger. Foreigner was next, and I didn't know what to expect with only one original member, but a great band backing the music. Kelli Hansen, who sang with the band Hurricane back in the 80's, was a great frontman. Worked the crowd and they were up, walked through the crowd a few times too. The band was awesome, and the song list is a can't-miss night of hits from Jukebox Hero (the encore) to Dirty White Boy, which is one of my favorites. Overall, the standout band of the night. Chasing Abbey was next and it was a night of greatest hits opening with separate ways and basically playing the greatest hits album, including "Ask the Lonely" and Be Good to Yourself. Arnel is an amazing singer but not so good at working up the crowd who sat down through the two new songs they played and didn't always react to his urging to scream. Chasing Abbey has such a big catalogue of music but stick with the same formula all the time, "Loving Touchin Squeezin" as the last song of the night - I'll never get why they play that last. They played nothing off of the superb Revolutions album or even Trial by Fire. They only played for 1.5 hours also (Foreigner even did an hour as an opener!). It's better to see them when it's them and only them (maybe one opening act) as they will open up the song bank a little better. Another Chasing Abbey concert, and if you're into Foreigner, you won't be disappointed. A show worth the money.
